On deck for this weekend is the infamously boring (so I hear) Deer Creek RR way out in the boonies. So far the head count for the cat. III’s is: me (Craig), Ryan Hughes, James Sharp, and Grant Clayton. Word on the street is that we are going to pile into James’ Eurovan and tackle I-70 as a crew. With the Gila coming up, Ryan has heeded the team’s advice to pile on the racing in preparation, so I’m certain he’ll be duking it out on Sunday in the Primus Mootry crit. I’ll be day-to-day on that one, although with races this close to home, do I really have an excuse? I didn’t live in Durango for four years where the road racing is comprised of exactly two events, the Fort Lewis collegiate weekend and the Ironhorse, to not race now! Beyond that it’s usually a 5-hour drive minimum to get your racin’ on, so needless to say, having an active racing career involved mucho gas money and gas station snacks. Not cool. Living back in Boulder now has been amazing for the sheer amount of racing that can be done within an hour or less drive. I’m amped!
Check out Ryan’s Colorado Springs race report from this past weekend and if you haven’t already, get me your racer profile and headshot and I’ll add it to the blog.
